On Friday 4th January 2008 a new National Fishermen's association was formed. This association is called the "New Under Ten Fishermen's Association" (NUTFA) and was formed by the founding committee members who are all dedicating their time on a voluntary basis.

NUTFA is a non-profit making organisation and will represent its members in the under 10m and non-sector, that require representation at national and european levels, regarding any issues that affect fish stocks and fishermen's livelihoods.

One of the first and most important issues is the highly discriminating and unfair UK quota distribution amongst the different fishing sectors within the industry. On the 2th May 2008 NUTFA initiated legal proceedings against DEFRA on this issue read here
